Early Bird

I heard my cousin Vinnie, went by the way of a bird,

who swooped down an grabbed him another unlucky worm

We try to keep to ourselves, often in holes in the ground

never asking for much, or ever acting to proud

We just help with plant beds, and the aeration of the earth

And help with the fishing, when pulled from the dirt

Often times cut into pieces and threaded on a hook

Referred to by people, as to those often with eyes in a book

Some we even frighten, some have tried us as food

they make candy like us, and kids say that we taste sour but good

One has to wonder, if we help out as much as we do

why were treated this way, God knows that it’s not how we treat you

So be kind to my brother should he slime on by

Greet him with a smile, he maybe slow, but always willing to try 🤪

I Sit Atop a Tree

I sit atop a tree, and say good morning with a tweet-tweet
while looking down on God’s creations, and it’s humanity.
I spy a familiar site, as it crawls thru dewy grass
maybe I could have a little taste,
but I think this time I’ll let it pass.

In peering upon the creatures, that walk on by
I often wonder why they’d rather walk, than to simply fly.
With wings that have no feathers, and noses that do not eat
it just be better, that they stick to, using their two feet.
A quick glance around, and once to the ground below
That familiar creature hasn’t moved to far,
in fact it’s moving pretty slow.

I may have to swoop down and make it, a savory treat
To slurp it down, and profess what I’d found,
with a happy cheep-cheep.
So as I drift from one branch to another,
to the ground and back high again.
I wish you all a pleasant day
from this very happy Wren 🦆 oops I can dream 🤪

With the Day

With the day came a thought
And the thought became my aim
But to make it be so
Things would have to change

I would have to make amends
Perhaps forego my pride
A bit of a makeover
That would come from inside

In days of past, as I remember
I would never had thought to reconsider
Rather, I’d have stood my ground, to proud
And maybe a bit bitter

It’s not about more intelligence
But with age, being a little wiser
Understanding the need to be
A little kinder, and a little nicer

For me, my belief in my Lord
As I have grown, ripened, and aged
Has given me a sense of consideration
Nothing more need be explained

So please allow me to offer you
As my most gracious way to be
And ask that you forgive and accept
The humility in me

So in closing, I’d like to say
Thank you for taking your time
To read this little poem
A moment within, to help ease my mind

Part II

In the moment, when the day presents the night,

and eyes become heavy, with the fading of the light

Where ceding to the next awareness, that is but your own,

in a dream conscience, with the Lord, and yours alone

A quiet that surrounds, within the blanket of the night,

where your dreams become the view,

and the dark becomes your sight

The seemingly mystical, with reflection and examination

Leaving you with questions, and with hesitant explanation

I’ve often thought it doesn’t matter, it was just a dream I had, had

All is fine, and was quite interesting, something, for me, to understand

But I do sometimes question, where I have visited, where I’d just been

A lesson ? A warning? or just a new state of mind, for me to start again

My wish for you is of course, for all your inner nighttime visions

To be felt with kindness and offer guidance, and provide you with direction

And finally, I’ll never close my eyes, with fear or consternation

Accept what is given, and take a moment while awake, for further examination

The Days of Whine and no Roses. . .Yet

March is a march, through the winds and gales

through the highs an lows, through snow, rain and maybe even hail

A month of remembering the past, and thoughts of the future to come

With even warmer days, budding trees and flowers, as gifts from above

And soon we will forget, all that we’ve been through

March allows the time for adjustment, from the old to the new

So be patient, as is usual they’ll be a bit of teasing,

as we await in anticipation, for our next blooming season🌟🌟🌟
