Tomorrow’s Gift

After the feast, and the gluttony, after the nap on the couch,

with the belt opened a bit, just one more notch

A turn to look at the paper, or an advertisement or two

A chance to look a your pocket book, to see what you can afford to do

It’s shopping madness time, when sales are abundant all around

Meant to entice, your imagination, as your feet hit the ground

Out the door, some with kids, some with others in tow

A plan to attack the needs of Christmas,

and map to show which way to go

Oh the deals and the steals, that one must have

With feet aching, but still partaking, fun for all to be had

Trinkets and doodads, that could glisten from your tree

Clothing that will fit after New Year’s resolutions,

you just wait and see!

Or maybe a fishing pole, or a scope for your gun

Some new tools, that aren’t needed, but needed, just for fun

Even through the crowds, and a bit of squeezing in and out

To reach the prize, you’ve given thought to,

it’s what it’s all about

Like Halloween with bags of goodies, soon to be adorned

One can’t wait to show the bounty, upon arriving home

Then lay back, and wonder, just what you have done

Have you accomplished all your shopping goals. . .maybe not,

but it sure had been fun🌟
