Waiting

I came upon my first pond frozen,

while the last leaves of autumn fall,

the other day a few flurries,

that melted on the ground

Not really an omen or a worry,

after all we’ve seen it all before,

just a midwestern time to complain a bit,

it’s part of who we are

I go home to a house heated

and a lounge chair awaiting,

which at my age I’ll happily use,

without hesitating

What comes next cannot be seen ahead,

but merely just a guess,

one must wait to be surprised,

just like all the rest

Keep the shovel tuned up,

and your gloves, hat, and jacket near,

eventually in spite of all the anticipation,

all will become clear

A happy new season coming to you all!!!

Awakening from the Vacancy

Awakening from the vacancy with the needs of no directions,
a moment to thank the Lord for the time given,
void of all anticipation.

A clearness and cleanliness of to nothing remembered,
not a thing brought forward, or past to consider.

Without comparison, mirrored images, or a reflection for hesitation
Nothing to hold onto, a glance to see what’s coming,
or a need for more information.

Simplicity, in its most refined state of existence
Not a feeling of waiting, pushback or resistance.

Left feeling sated, in the fullness of being empty.
A moment of quiet, somehow knowing,
later on, they’ll be plenty.

May you always find a time of nothing,
where everything found is new. 🌟

Moving Through

Between spaces lies another space

that bind together though never seen as one,

like the wind that begins then is gone

as it travels on

There is no path planned that can be followed without diversion,

life not meant to be long, be great, or prosper,

but to be happy with as many moments strung together,

as is possible

To find joy and experience kindness

and have your soul sated as such,

while accepting what is given,

as being just and enough

May good friendships find you,

and provide the enhancement

and mirror who you are,

as you taste life’s sweet nectar in passing,

both near and far

And as the days page through,

from one chapter to the next,

let the following that appears, be reflected upon,

as more interesting than the rest.

Let Me Think About This?

I wish I could remember all that I have forgotten,

and what I might have known,

but I suppose it matters not,

I guess I outta, just let it go

Those things that I recall,

even after the time has passed,

to grab that brass ring moving by,

and have it in my grasp

The minds is an interesting place,

to store the information that has been gleaned,

but not always cooperating when searching ,

for a piece to be retrieved

It’s a tricky proposition,

the ordering of the items you’ve retained,

keeping it together to recall them,

often times renamed🤪

There are one or two things that come to mind,

where there is nothing to know or see,

often times without reflection,

is a better way to be

So if I can’t remember what your want

or even your name,

It may be just a choice I’ve made,

with nobody but me to blame😊

Blessed Be the Simple

The old chair with paisley print,

woven into the fashion of its time,

tufted pillows and large arms,

bring grandma and grandpas to mind

The ottoman as part of its charm,

thoughts of times past,

sitting together, with shared words wisdom,

of guidance to be passed

A cup of coffee upon its table,

aptly named as such,

waiting patiently for the morning,

when it means so very much

A lamp with fringes about its bottom,

resting atop its ornate base,

giving its light though soft and subtle,

providing sense of grace

The setting peaceful with a book opened,

a slow turn of a page,

moments calm drifting,

a perspective of those within, of intellect and sage

It was a family, the happiness of being together,

without many a distractions,

just a soft light, comfortable chair, and loving interactions

Those days that have gone by,

the ways of TV’s and cell phones,

where it may be under the roof of a house,

but not under a roof, that feels like a home

In reflection how I desire,

to return to those times long ago,

sitting all together in simple conversation

within a warming light aglow
