The Day Started

The day started, frosty, and bitter cold.
My thoughts were of encapsulation,
and how long the winters road

The ideas of pasts evolving, and thoughts of what used to be,
so much hardship that was endured,
compared to you and me

Gathered around a fire, a ring made of stones,
a blanket shared, the warmth of two,
two lives, and perhaps two souls

I’ve pushed the button, and soon coffee shall await
for my lips to taste,
turned up the thermostat a bit,
and replied back to God for all of his Love and grace

So in reflection of times gone by, and the gifts,
I often fail to see.
A gratitude of appreciation,
for all that has been granted me.
