The sun shines brightly
A glisten on the snow
The wind briskly blowing
And a nip at your nose
The crisp sounds
Of tires as they roll
The harshness of a winter’s day
Through naked trees it blows
No longer just freezing
Rather much below
A question to be asked
How much further will it go
A pass by waters
Stillness frozen in time
A calmness that pervades
Like silence in the mind
It’s soon I’ve heard
That temperatures will rise up
If only for a few days
A quick breath, to catch up
From day to day
From up to down
The seasons play
Like a merry-go-round
We are a Nordic bunch
That can complain with the best
We’ve been here before
We know it will pass
So we’ll hunker down
And wait for the spring
What the heck. . .
It ain’t no big thing
And when it has passed
In rearview mirrors sight
Well pump our fists
“We’ve won the fight”
