A Good Night

One eye open, then the next, the motor starts turning, and the feet hit the ground

The slow to stand up, a stretch of the arms, and of course another, great big yawn

The eyes meet the light of the new day, with a subtle blink to say, ‘well…ok’

One more step and another to follow, as I go merrily (or not so much), on my way

The thought of how much I loved that pillow, now just a memory from the past

Out into the world I go, with all its challenges, that come attached

But soon I’ll once again lay my head down

Snuggle in, dream a bit, until a new day comes around
