A 4 years old remembrance of a sight and time long ago in North Dakota
I see the lone tree standing tall, in a field looking alone,
as birds come by to greet it and friends climb high, to get a better view,
its leaves tickling the sky, as just to say hello,
while providing cooling shade for God’s creatures, gathered down below,
and its feet though covered, grasp tightly within the earths terrain,
and grow out far enough to grab the nectar, that we know as rain,
and there’s the moss that’s on one side, that does seem to grow,
adorning it as a soft cladding, it may even be looked at, as part of its clothes,
the breeze that ruffles its plumage, as its sound it is heard,
and speaks softly and calmly, without ever saying a word,
through stormy weather, and darkest of days, it may loose a limb or two,
but it’s ok it has more , more than just a few
a time of year will come, where its tiara was once worn,
where the beauty of it structure will be available, for all to be shown
It is soon after, that something called a hoar frost may lie upon its presence,
a symbiotic relationship, to provide, a beautiful appearance,
and a for a few moments, a gathering of white, sometimes its branches piled high,
until the wind comes upon it, while its passing by,
and as is the timing, there begins a subtle change,
a new growth appears, and eventually all, will be back to the same,
nests will be built, within a canopy provided for its feathered friends,
and a coolness below for others, when the sun shines hot, a kindness it extends
So as I ponder about the loneliness, the situation of that tree,
I begin to realize how much more, it has going on, I now can plainly see.
