The Jar

I sat with my mother
when I was very young,
I was sad and crying a bit,
and feeling very down

She asked what is the problem,
I told her of all my serious woes,
and just to be sure,
I donned a mournful frown

She suggested that I gather myself,
and asked me to think of the things
that made me happy and made me smile

She said all these experiences,
are lessons received,
the beginnings of a child

She said take all that Love
and put it into a jar called soul,
and keep it next to you

Every time another Love comes,
gather it up and save it,
for when you are feeling blue

Soon you will find,
if the times are unkind,
or maybe your down and feeling alone
and left out

That you can reach into soul the Love
you have collected,
and cast away any doubt

Your Love you have gained,
can always be attained,
and used when you need it most

When your thoughts of struggles and loneliness,
and the darkest of times do approach

The jar that’s Soul is given by The Lord,
a cache created and will never run empty

As long as you give out,
to those whom are in need,
yours will always be full and plenty

So keep that jar near,
walk not in fear,
and may you share it with others often

It is a gift given,
to show on your path,
that the Love of God is never forgotten.
