A Merry Christmas to You All

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day beckoning
its meaning and presentation,
the birth of a child and the beholding to come,
with greetings and blessings, for celebration

A time to be gracious, to receive and to give,
a rejoicing of children and
those older alike,
presents and laughter, atop the tree a sign,
shining oh so bright

So for these couple of days may your enjoyment of each other
and of life,
a time together
when all things seem better,
within God’s heavenly light

Many Blessings to all of you 🌟

Wednesdays Gathering

Grandma’s Tea
Forman North Dakota
Population 500 est. 🌟

A setting for tea and scandal,
the virtues of the world to be discussed,
opining visions of the past,
with subtle smiles and eyes glancing up

Dainty fingers clutching cups,
nibbles of biscuits,
but not to much,
each poised to take a bite,
etiquette to assure,
that it is just enough

There was talk of fabric seen,
in the Sears and Roebuck catalogue,
and more than a little gossip of others
whom were not getting along

Recipes worth discussing,
and what might be added as to make them better,
many agreeing with a nod,
something to be considered

Then there was discussion of the sermon,
given on Sunday past,
the virtues of its meanings,
and how in life,
a great and vast contrast

Many of the women quite old
but considered sage and wise,
listened to very attentively with much pause awaiting,
for their wisdom and perhaps their advice

Ladies of distinction,
no matter their stature or their worth,
simply self reliant and confident,
knowing it’s in God they trust

And as they’re time together,
begins to ebb toward its ending,
gracious smiles and affirmative nods are noted,
time spent with each other’s givings

From a little boy watching and listening
in fascination and not understanding

A Child’s Reflections

There were smiles of glee
and giggles
resounding,
sleds and saucers
being pulled
and snow ball
throwing

All clad in clothes
quite puffy
and billowing out,
making it a challenge
while moving
about

Not a care
of the world
but to reach
the top of the hill,
to go down again
to experience the thrill

The innocents of
the simplicity
and our enjoyment,
so much better
when we all
joined in it

Remembering those days
as we gathered
together and
just played,
an ode to the joy
and a place we wished
we could of stayed
a swing to ride on
in the summer
a pile of leafs to frolic
in the fall,
puddles to jump into
with the springs rain
fun found in it all

I suppose I don’t understand
why simple fun
has come to video games
and television,
automated and mindless
babysitters
for the
newest editions

So grab a sled
and walk up the hill
and feel the joy
of the ride,
find a swing
a pile of leaves
leap into a puddle
be simply satisfied

Enjoy all the things
at no cost
but God’s gifts
given for us to play,
showing the children
by participating
that simpler things
are often a better way

Perhaps having so much
we forget the fun
of the smaller
parts of our lives,
times enjoyed
that we’ve had
that cannot
be denied

Yet how often I forget
and how fast
memories can
fade to gray,

So before time passes
the least that should
be done. . .
be that child again at play

December’s Presentation

What can be said, so much going on,
from the changing weather and the holidays,
the snow coming down,
winds biting your nose and of course,
Santa coming to town

The last day of the month,
thoughts of things to be better
in the new year
only to realize, maybe just to be happy,
that we’re all still here

It’s a time of a child’s impatience,
awaiting gifts and the man of red and white
to arrive
the enjoyment by the elders, of seeing the happiness,
within children’s eyes

And of course there’s the tree,
the focal piece of what will be gathered round,
where Love, Santa and thoughts of Jesus,
are meant to be found

There are many of us whom will find sadness,
in thoughts of those whom have moved on,
but if we accept the Lord we’ll know,
their Love will always be there
to be found

So accept December as a very special month,
worthy to be remembered as times we took part
even though it may touch the heart strings of sadness,
it can also allow Love to be found in your heart

A very happy December,
and a happy new year to come,
and don’t forget to give thanks
for all the blessings,
received from our God up above

The Garden

A bunny quite cute and furry,
with Bugs a friend who had mentored,
hopped through the garden,
to see perchance,
that which could be rendered

A leap here,
or a bounce over there,
to possibly find a morsel,
that was both
sweet and tender

An occasional look up to see,
with ears perked and ready
As the nose twitched quickly,
often and steadily

Alas the senses detected,
approaching creatures, Oh quite tall
One must be careful you know,
as being cuddly fluffy,
and as being rather small

It was Daisy skipping along,
and humming a song,
with her basket of pansies and posies,

A smile on her face, innocent eyes,
and cheeks that were warming,
and rosy

She ran into Tommy, his nose a bit runny,
but at that age it didn’t matter
Tommy asked Daisy in a shy way,
‘would you like to see our garden’

With a timid glance
she said ‘I guess I could do that’
and seemingly, a little bit guarded

They walked the fence, with a lithe in their steps,
as Tommy took Daisy’s hand
as they turned the corner,
miss bunny caught sight, and moved off quickly,
to be a little bit further

There were smiles and giggles
at the sight of the furry soft bunny,
with comments ’ isn’t it cute, it’s twitching nose,
so active, and kinda funny’

They looked through the rows and noticed a mole,
peeking his head out and sniffing,
then Tommy reached down,
and picked up a worm, from the moist
and freshly tilled ground

Daisy at that moment, showed no interest,
and turned to look at a flower,
the bunny, the mole and more worms,
paid no attention,
but rather do the same and follow her

The sun shone down, gave a glisten to the ground,
as fingers and feet became dirty,
Daisy picked a flower and held it up to the sun,
‘Tommy isn’t it oh so pretty’
‘I guess so Daisy,’ as a bird flew over
and cast its shadow, down upon them,
look it’s a Robin, looking for a worm,
a food for them, they find as
no problem

Tommy reached up and pulled down an apple,
and wiped it off on his pants
After a bite, he offered it to Daisy,
but she didn’t give it,
even a second glance

Thank you Tommy, how nice of you to offer
and a thought that you would share,
but I’m feeling quite full at the moment,
I appreciate your kindness, it shows me how much you care

As they meandered on, looking at things growing in the ground,
putting them in Daisy’s basket,
Tommy  pulled out his pocket knife, for all other things,
that would needed to be cut

Such a wonderful day, with a friend to play,
outside together in a garden of life,
animals about, growth all around,
where everything seemed at that moment,
to be just right

Those are the times relived in the mind,
with no distractions of the past or the future,
exactly what’s needed to give trust in,
and most certainly, those needed to nurture

So may you experience your garden, full of life,
Love and amazement,
as the blessings from GOD,
not looking further,
for a need of any replacements❤️🌟🙏

AMEN
