Ask for What I Need

All the things that happen in our lives,
most will be forgotten and some you hold on to
Some require more than one thought,
a weighing of sorts, to decide what you’ll do.

The whittling down to hone our own truth,
to decide if it really mattered at all.
Forgoing or developing an opinion,
then agreeing with yourself, it’s nothing to recall.

I find it much easier when I let go,
and let it all just pass
With an empty basket to carry,
and my feet being tickled, in the grass.

There is the beauty of the new born life,
and the death of a family member or friend.
Those whom eat from a silver spoon,
and those who’s pain, never seems to end.

So much existing in the centrifuge of our lives
And sometimes no answer found,
no matter how much you have tried.

So as the search continues,
in every moment throughout our time.
From whence we came, until we’re gone,
the one thing different, is what’s in our mind.

It is at any given point, only ours alone,
uniquely individual, if we like it or not.
And not to correct the world,
rather just to do, your given part.

If by chance you need to runaway,
and perhaps cry or hide
Forgive yourself quickly,
God knows that you’ve tried.

As you awake, to the presence of a new day.
Give it your smile as your gift,
as you go along your way.
I must give all I can
Ask for what I need.

A Good Night

One eye open, then the next, the motor starts turning, and the feet hit the ground

The slow to stand up, a stretch of the arms, and of course another, great big yawn

The eyes meet the light of the new day, with a subtle blink to say, ‘well…ok’

One more step and another to follow, as I go merrily (or not so much), on my way

The thought of how much I loved that pillow, now just a memory from the past

Out into the world I go, with all its challenges, that come attached

But soon I’ll once again lay my head down

Snuggle in, dream a bit, until a new day comes around

Trees

Like the delicate blossom on the Magnolia tree

And beautiful adornment of the Cherry in springs time

The fragrance of the Cedar wafting with the breeze

That provides, a soothing, upon one’s mind

The mighty Oak that branches out, in its sturdy array of arms

The Pines of conical shapes, resembling somewhat, that of a gnomes charms

And the Willow that gently graces waters edges, as its cascade to the ground

Graciously presented, and never acting proud

There is of course the mighty splendor of the Redwood, that tickles the sky

and the slowly developed Bonsai, a marvel for ones eye

And the Maples of tasty syrup, and their gifts of color, that in the fall appear

That seem to be here to shortly, then quickly disappear

So many more, of many of sizes and shapes, that takes it nourishment from beneath

As they help, to provide, their beauty and the oxygen that we breathe

So as you pass by, one of Gods grand creations may you smile or doff your hat

In thankful admiration, and perhaps, in gratitude, stop and have a little chat

A Prayer

As tree tops glisten, to the rise of the morning Sun

The awakening, as another new day has begun

To open up the drapes and curtains,

and reveal what’s outside

Perhaps to be in receipt of a new feeling,

to be felt from inside

To relax one’s soul, in the moment that which is given

To find that peace and calming, without any anticipation

So may you walk with your Lord, in kind and harmony

And accept that it is the way, that it should always be

AMEN

BARAKA BASHAD

‘May the Blessings Be’

The Gift of Togetherness

When the Panda met Miss Bunny, she said

‘my you have a nice coat to wear’

Miss Bunny replied back

‘as you do too, Miss Panda bear’

Then Mr Porcupine waddled in

To make a formal greet,

Miss Bunny said with a smile

‘he sure keeps his hair, straight, and very neat’

And at that moment Mr Opossum arrived,

pink nose and not much flair

and proceeded for a moment to play dead,

but no one seemed to care

And as the day progressed,

many more joined in, attired in their own fashion,

And generally speaking,

they acted with mutual Kindness and compassion

Then came along little boy Blue and his friend Daisy Mae, to ask of them all

in their rather diminutive voice,

by any chance

‘have you seen our ball’?

The panda looked at rabbit,

the rabbit looked around,

the others seemed to acknowledge,

that nothing had been found

Daisy Mae with a gentle kindness,

gave thanks for their time, and blessings for their day

They reciprocated with sounds

of the forest, and well wishes,

as they went upon their way

Finally Mr snake who had slithered in,

was the first to bid,

a good adieu

And left quite silently

As he was apt to do

Then as they all had gathered,

so would they depart

to cozy in for the night

and await a new day to start

Another day had seen the sun come,

and stars soon to shine

Gods creatures having met briefly,

All with kindness on their mind

Perhaps if there was a moral to this short story, it might be;

That when Gods creatures are together in mutual respect and cooperation

as the only way to be

Then they all can have the sense of Peace and Love

And live in harmony
